Home Design for New Builds, Remodels & Refreshes
I've been guiding clients through home-building and design for over two decades. I've learned a lot about the journey of home building - the dreams that set things into motion, the challenges of trying to bring those dreams to life and the systems and tools that make the experience a smooth and successful one. Over the years, I've developed a design process that helps my clients sharpen their vision, identify their priorities and balance those with their budget. My clients are able to navigate their decisions with a methodical, intuitive approach. Most importantly, my process allows designing a home to be fun!
Common Pitfalls and Challenges
Although no two homes I've designed have ever been the same, there are many common design and building pitfalls that I've encountered over the years. I came across many of these early on in my career when I was hired to help my clients select the surfaces and finishing touches for their homes - eyesores that could have easily been avoided, wasted space that should have been utilized and money spent on features that ultimately, fell flat. Great design isn't about spending a lot of money - its' about anticipating how all the elements of a home will come together and knowing how to focus your resources to achieve fantastic results. I help my clients avoid costly mistakes by knowing what to look for early on in the planning stages.
The Indigo Design Process
There is tried and true process to designing and building a home - a natural order to making certain considerations and decisions. Having the right conversations early on, will save you from spinning your wheels later or ending up with a disjointed space. Done right, one decision will flow after another and it often feels as if the home just comes together with a style and a rhythm all its' own.

About Me
I'm Verla, a Southern Utah native with a life-long love of intentional home design. I began my design journey through an remote correspondence program before online learning was common. Once I finished my degree, I went to work for a small high-end furniture gallery with resources that enabled me to meet my clients' needs from flooring to finishing touches and everything in between. I was able to help my clients create considered and cohesive spaces. As my experience grew, I had the opportunity to participate in the Southern Utah Area Parade of Homes. My first show home was a turning point. It gave me the opportunity to be involved early in the planning stages-working with the builder on plan modifications and suggestions for improving the design and function of the home. I saw firsthand how intentional design, when started early, can elevate not just aesthetics - but the way a home lives.
I had the privilege of designing dozens of show homes and model homes for local builders. I was eventually invited to join the design team of a nationally recognized custom home builder, where I expanded my construction knowledge. There, I guided hundreds of homeowners through the emotional process of home building. I became very skilled at helping my clients achieve the look and feel they wanted for their home, while balancing their priorities with their budget. They were able to begin construction with confidence and peace of mind, knowing every detail had been considered.
I launched my own design studio to have more creative freedom, a closer connection to the people I’m designing for and to provide an exceptional experience, whether in person or across the country. My services are tailored to meet every budget and any design challenge. I'd love to help elevate your home and the way you live and allow you to enjoy the process along the way.
